Lowcountry Coastal Retreat on Fripp Island
This Lowcountry coastal retreat was a thoughtful refresh designed for effortless short-term living on Fripp Island. The project focused on updating three bathrooms and furnishing the home with a balance of new selections and carefully retained existing pieces. The goal was to create a cohesive, elevated coastal feel that feels both welcoming and durable for guests.
Design Vision
The intent for this home was to achieve a sense of quiet luxury rooted in coastal simplicity. With its location and use as a short-term rental, the design needed to feel refined yet approachable, layered yet low maintenance.
Existing furniture pieces were intentionally reused to maintain budget mindfulness and sustainability, while new furnishings and finishes were introduced to elevate the overall aesthetic and bring consistency throughout the home. The result is a space that feels intentional, comfortable, and timeless.
Primary Bathroom (pictured above)
The primary bathroom was refreshed to create a calm, spa-like retreat. Updated finishes, lighting, and fixtures brought a cleaner, more cohesive feel while enhancing the natural light and coastal palette.
Guest Bathroom
Designed with durability and guest experience in mind, the guest bathroom was simplified and refreshed with timeless materials and easy-to-maintain surfaces. The goal was a clean, welcoming space that feels polished without being overdesigned.
Secondary Bathroom
The secondary bath offered an opportunity to introduce subtle personality while maintaining overall cohesion. Thoughtful updates in finishes and details helped tie this space into the rest of the home while still giving it its own identity.
Whole Home Furnishing + Layering Existing Pieces
A key part of this project was working with what already existed in the home. Select furniture pieces were retained and rebalanced with new additions to improve flow, scale, and comfort.
New upholstery, soft goods, lighting, and accessories were layered in to create a unified design language throughout the home. The result is a seamless blend of old and new, where every room feels connected but still functional for short-term guests.
Careful attention was given to durability, ease of maintenance, and creating a relaxed coastal atmosphere that still feels elevated and intentional.
The Result
The finished Lowcountry coastal retreat feels refreshed, cohesive, and thoughtfully designed for modern coastal living. Each space now reflects a quiet, understated elegance while remaining practical for guests and everyday use.
