The Smartest Decision We Made in the Bunk Bathroom
The Beauty of a
Bunk Bath
Bunk rooms are about memories.
Late nights. Whispering. Cousins stacked three high. Summer chaos in the best way.
But the bunk bathroom?
That’s where things can unravel quickly.
Multiple kids.
Tight square footage.
Wet towels.
Toothpaste everywhere.
When we started designing this space, we knew the layout would make or break it.
And the smartest decision we made?
A trough sink with two faucets.
Why We Didn’t Do a Traditional Double Vanity
Two separate vanities would have visually crowded the room. More cabinetry. More bulk. More breaks in the line of sight.
Instead, we chose one long trough sink paired with two wall mounted faucets.
The result feels intentional instead of cluttered.
Intentional instead of squeezed in.
It Solves Real Problems
Two kids can brush teeth at the same time.
There is no arguing over “my sink.”
The shared basin makes cleanup easier.
And the continuous counter gives more usable space for baskets, trays, and everyday essentials.
It is built for how the room will actually be used.
It Feels Custom
There is something about a trough sink that immediately elevates a space.
It feels thoughtful.
Less builder grade, more designed.
In a bunk bathroom, which can easily lean overly playful or overly practical, this choice grounded the room.
It added structure. Simplicity. Calm.
And that is what good design should do.
It quietly supports the life happening around it.
